Shoji is a window manager. It moves and resizes windows, and that’s all it needs your Mac for. This page explains, in plain words, what data is involved.
Shoji is made by Guido Crego in Buenos Aires, Argentina, who is responsible for the data described here.
The app
- Accessibility permission. macOS requires it for an app to move other apps’ windows. Shoji uses it only for that. It doesn’t record your screen and it doesn’t read what’s inside windows.
- Your layouts stay on your Mac. Zones, layouts and settings are saved in your user folder. Shoji’s local logs leave out window titles.
- No analytics. The app doesn’t send usage data or crash reports anywhere.
Your license
When you activate Shoji, the app sends your license key and a name for this Mac (the computer name and model, for example “Ana’s MacBook Air (Mac16,13)”) to Dodo Payments, which runs our license service. That’s how one license stays on one Mac, and it lets you see where your license is active. While you’re online, Shoji checks every few days that the license is still valid. When you deactivate, the activation is removed. The key itself is stored in your Mac’s keychain.
Updates
Once a day, Shoji asks getshoji.com whether there’s a new version. Like any web request, it reveals your IP address and the app version. No other system information is sent.
Buying Shoji
Purchases are handled by Dodo Payments, our reseller and Merchant of Record. They process your payment details; we never see your card. Dodo shares with us what we need to give you your license and help you: your name, email address, country and order details. The Buy button also tells Dodo which page of getshoji.com you bought from (for example, the Spanish home page) and, if you arrived through a link we posted, where we posted it (for example, ?src=reddit), so we know what helps people find Shoji. Nothing else about your visit is recorded.
This website
getshoji.com sets no cookies and runs no ads. We count visits with Umami, which doesn’t use cookies or store your IP address: it records the page, where the visit came from, general details like country, browser and type of device, and clicks on Buy, Download and the video. Nobody is identified or followed across sites. Fonts are served from our own server. If you pull the light cord, your day/night choice is saved in your browser, and only there. Like any web server, ours keeps short technical logs (IP address, browser, page requested) to keep the site running and secure.
Your rights
You can ask us what data we have about you, and ask us to correct or delete it. Write to kabronero@gmail.com. If you’re in the EU or the UK, you also have the right to complain to your data protection authority.
Changes
If this policy changes, we’ll update this page and the date at the top.
